Our mission extends to youth in the greater Yosemite area to provide opportunities to cultivate a positive and insightful relationship with themselves, and to better understand their emotional self, to identify and curb behaviors that do not support their personal goals.
Balanced Rock Youth Expeditions are rites of passage that focus on developing confidence-building skills that include: self-care, decision making, and leadership through educational programs that combine classroom and wilderness experiences.
2010 Yosemite Youth Wilderness Expedition
Our program this year is funded by a grant from the Pacific Forests and Watershed Lands Stewardship Council with support from the Yosemite Rotary Club and local donors. We are working in partnership with Mariposa Safe Families and Mariposa County High School Students to organize a series of adventures that will culminate in a 4-day backpacking expedition in Yosemite June 17-20.
A series of three day trips with in-town organizational meetings are the preparation and a requirement for the backpacking expedition. If you are interested in joining this group, and you are a high school student in Mariposa County, call us at 379-9453, or email arin@balancedrock.org.
