Program Details

Restorative Yoga is a deeply therapeutic practice in which the practitioner engages in intentional rest, sustained in reclining postures, to regenerate and rejuvenate today’s stressed body-mind complex. You will learn how to sequence your restorative classes for optimal flow and minimal turbulence and how to create and weave thoughtfully-chosen meditations and imagery through your classes to inspire self-care. You will leave ready to teach Restorative Yoga in a class or private setting, with an integrated understanding of how this healing modality functions to combat stress and fatigue.

During this training we will gather in the tranquil Yoga Room at the Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort, tucked into the Sierra Nevada foothills in Midpines, CA. The Yoga Room will serve as our sacred container to explore various restorative techniques as well as offer opportunities to learn, share and connect within an intimate cohort. This training will be led by Julia Clarke of Mountain Soul Yoga, read more about her experience below under “About Your Facilitator”.

What is included?

This 3-day training will cover several areas of study:

  • Anatomy, physiology and energetics of Restorative Yoga
  • Using props to facilitate deep relaxation
  • Understanding the Nervous System’s role in stress response
  • Sequencing classes towards a specific anatomical focus, mood or season
  • Create and guide artful meditations to nourish the mind and nervous system
  • Appropriate pranayama for a restful practice

Ideal for current and aspiring yoga teachers, and passionate practitioners who recognize the importance of Yoga’s more lunar aspects and practices. Sanitized yoga mats and props will be available, but participants are welcome to bring their own as they wish. About Your Facilitator

Julia Clarke, E-RYT 500 and MS Maharishi Ayurveda is the author of the book Restorative Yoga for Beginners and co-founder of Mountain Soul Yoga in Edwards CO. Julia’s creative and passionate teaching weaves her deep connection with nature and her love of Ayurveda through dynamic and powerful Vinyasa Flow, contemplative Yin Yoga and thoughtful Restorative Yoga. She is an avid hiker and writer whose winding path has brought her from growing up in Scotland to teaching yoga in Vail, CO via eight years as a radio DJ and music promoter on the east coast. She offers a natural sense of ease in surfing the waves of life, and meets students best in the realm of empowering transformation. Julia firmly believes that without direct experience of nature, yoga is merely an intellectual concept. Each class with Julia is artfully designed to invoke nature’s five elements within every student, eliciting confidence and curiosity. She creates an inspired space for students to witness themselves in a state of constant evolution using intentional sequencing, an infectious sense of adventure, and good Scottish humor.
